Almost every ones first trick shot they learn is the four balls in one shot - lined up out of the side pocket. It's a good shot... don't get me wrong.. but this is making it just a little better! And a litter harder. But not by much, I promise! Most people set up the four balls out of the side pocket in the middle of the pocket, but because of the throw on the 4 ball, it's a better idea to set the line of balls up just a hair to the right of the pocket (toward where the cue ball starts.) Still in a straight line, but just not in the center of the pocket. The 5 ball is hanging in the corner pocket. A row of blocking balls is lined up a half a diamond out from the end rail with a ball spacing between them. The butt part of a cue is laid against the end rail as a cheater (this format only allows a full cue to be put on, so the diagram is a little weird!!) The rack is placed against the head rail on the edge of the pocket that the 3 ball goes into, (This format also does not allow me to put a rack on the table.. bummer!!) The rack is also a cheater - the 3 ball now can be off by a little and hit the rack and slide into the pocket.
This is a force follow shot. Which means the cue ball shouldn't just go down the table after it hits the line of four balls, it should MOVE down the table! If you have trouble with follow, here's a little hint: bring your bridge hand closer to the cue ball, i.e.: shorten your stroke. Most people tend to dip the cue down or up at the end of their stroke, so if you shorten your stroke your body won't realize it's at the end of the stroke and you'll actually hit the cue ball where you want. My husband who has a GREAT stroke will shorten his if the shot demands it, so don't be shy!! It'll feel totally weird, but it'll work! A little right english will help it along the cue stick to make the five, but don't over do it. Gook luck with the shot and as always.. if you have questions.. just make a comment or e-mail me!! And Mike, you gotta' tell me when you make this!!!
